Bullhook Ordinance Passed!

Huge thank you to everyone who supported the proposed bullhook ban for the city of Richmond. The ordinance was heard tonight and by a vote of 8-1 (Kathy Graziano of the 4th District was the lone "No" vote), the ordinance passed. While the ordinance does not go into effect until 2018, its sends a symbolic message on behalf of animals and also prevents any other circuses from filling the void with elephants when Ringling leaves. RFA was represented this evening alongside the Ban the Bullhook campaign which spearheaded this effort, Richmond SPCA, HSUS and PETA along with several dozen private citizens.
